Mommy’s Birthday!

October 12th I officially entered the beginning of the end! I know it sounds so doom and gloom but really I turned 29! This is my last year in my twenties.  Boo hoo to getting older.  I sure do hope I can make it great and it did start off that way with all my handsome guys.  It was a Saturday smack dab in the middle of Halloween month so what else do you do but go to the pumpkin patch! The boys had so much fun and they could have jumped and slid all day, me too!

Could this be more hilarious!?

Hey Bradley, can you help a brother out and give me a butt push!

067

Having a moment for who knows what!

071

Pure joy that makes my heart smile!

After we did the slide, the bounce and played in the playground we picked our pumpkins.

This picture is special since Gavin is making a “this pumpkin is heavy” face and Easton is pouting because he sees the hay ride going around again without him on it. Since kids his age don’t understand time he kept thinking he missed it every time but we saved it for last.

After naps & dinner it was time for candles and cake! I am blocking Easton quickly from grabbing the candles.

Mother’s Day ~ 2013

IMG_2232 IMG_2233

I had a wonderful Mother’s Day this year.  It was simple but I am very thankful.  The boys each trickled into bed as they woke up and Brad made sure they said Happy Mother’s Day to me.  I didn’t really remind anyone so I am glad he thought of it. Brad made me breakfast before church.  Spinach & feta egg white omelet.  Yum!

After church we went to Chili’s for lunch.  All the brunch spots were booked up but this was perfect for us.  They have lots of stuff to color and it is more kid friendly.  I have never taken the boys to a fancy brunch before.  I think I secretly know what would happen so I don’t dare.

After that Brad took us to a spot so I could get a picture with my handsome little boys. My three babies.

Of course they gave their best fake smiles and were over it before it even started.

005

Throughout the day when they wouldn’t want to share or would fight, I would say to Bradley “Come on, It’s Mothers Day!” and he would reply with a “ughhhh, you know you can’t use that tomorrow” as he did whatever it was I asked of him begrudgingly. It’s only up from here right? Goodness gracious.

This little turkey gave his only good snapshot when the rest of us were looking bad.

We did a little walking and exploring of course because that’s what boys do best.

021

Minus a few more handprints this is all my handmade treasures the boys made for me this Mother’s Day.  I think I am going to just cut them down and put them into my Project Life book. One of Bradley’s papers said “I love my mom.  My mom does my laundry.  My mom cooks for me.  My mom took me to a zoo.  My mom makes cookies.” I could have about just died at that first line because everyone in this house knows how much I loathe laundry!! Haha! So, guess where this paper is now?  Hanging in the laundry room as a reminder to me along with a paper plate sunshine that he made a long time ago.  That helps me to stay cheery every time I open the laundry closet.

I also did not have to cook for dinner.  For some reason my Mother’s day involved a lot of food but I am so thankful I did not have to prepare any of it.  While it lasted it was amazing!!

I am so thankful that GOD gave me these three blessings to be a mother and I am thankful I get to share in the joy and journey with their wonderful daddy and my wonderful husband.  I feel like I should have more sentiment for this day but as I am completely exhausted from being, well, a mother today I am reminded of a movie I wasted an hour of my life watching for the second time!  It was called The Back Up Plan with Jennifer Lopez and a dad on a park bench was telling the soon to be father of twins what to expect of raising children.  He says “It is awful, awful, awful, awful! Then a small moment happens that is magical.  Then it’s awful again.”  It must have resonated with me because it is absolutely true and how I feel so often.  Through all the hard stuff I am grateful for the rewarding moments and wouldn’t change my job for anything in the world.

Thanks again boys for my special day.  Also, I hope all my Mommy friends reading this had a fab day too or if not you were able to find a magical moment on your day!

Ecclesiastes 11:5“As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things.”

Happy Birthday Weekend to Me!

On Friday the 12th I turned 28.  Here is a Birthday recap. On Thursday night my mom drove here from Virginia Beach.  Her new place of residence, to be with me on my Birthday. Brad had been working in Wilmington all week and was due home on my Birthday afternoon. My Birthday morning I woke up to perform my carpool responsibilities and get Bradley and Alex off to school. After that I went to the gym.  I figured I should burn some calories to even out all the ones I would be taking in as I treat myself. After that Liz and her mom and Chase came over.  We left the Grammy’s to watch the three boys while Liz and I went to get Starbucks and pedicures! It was fantabulous! She knows what her friend wants and appreciates. Thanks Liz! We came home to see that the Grammy’s had eventually had to stop gabbing and actually watch and feed their grandsons. We ate lunch together and they headed home. Shortly after Bradley was home from school and Brad was home from Wilmington.

We took some good old southern front porch pictures!

Mom and the boys stayed home while Brad and I went out together alone for my Birthday dinner.  We couldn’t leave without making it official with 28 candles though. I have a really funny story about this.  My mom or Brad in all their “business?” did not get or buy me a cake.  My mom intended to but time snuck up on her and she had not run to the store yet. So, since I was famished for dinner, rather than have her run out and buy a cake , I pulled out a box of Brownie mix and my mom baked it.  We were in a hurry and thought it had cooled enough so we put the candles in and then Brad started to light the candles and we realized the candles were completely falling over because the bottom of the candles were melting in the brownies.  So…I made a wish and blew out the candles but the boys did not have brownies afterwards! My mom made them cookies instead because they had there hopes up for brownies. It was really a site to see trying to blow out candles melting from both ends.

My mom did not get a picture of me blowing my candles out.  There is always next year when I am even older I guess!

Brad had to work on a Saturday…boo hoo! So, we went to Oktoberfest in our town. They loved the bounce houses!

I love his crazy hair!

Bradley literally fell asleep while the guy was painting his face. What a tired tiger!

They were selling cold stone there but we opted to go get di’lishi instead.  It was my first time trying this very popular new place we have in town.  It was “di’lish” as Bradley said!

083

This was my mom and mine’s to split then Easton would scream when we tried to eat some.  After several spoons and attempts for him to share we ended up having to go get him his own. The days of my trying to slide by with sharing and rationing out portions are over.  This baby in the family is tired of getting sloppy seconds.  He wants his own of everything!! Of course we still  need to work on sharing with him but I do see how he would be like this.  The poor little guy gets everything taken from him and is left with nothing at all too often because they know they get away with it when I am not looking.

See, he was moved to his own seat with his own cup! Happy now little Easty Bubbas?!

On Sunday we went to church and then my mom and I shopped for my Birthday.  My mom headed home and we got a sitter because Brad’s boss was in town for the course they were teaching locally.  He wanted to take us out to dinner. Bonefish and bang bang shrimp was the finale for my Birthday weekend! Somewhere in there I had Chinese take out too.  I pretty much ate and drank my way through me turning another year older.  Here’s to 28 and being Great!
