Today after church we did go pick some fresh strawberries! It was so much fun to see Bradley and Gavin out there having a mini adventure to pick the best strawberries. It was definitely a learning fieldtrip too since up to this point Bradley thought strawberries grew in the grocery store! Really! He said “ Why are we going to pick them when we can just go the grocery store?” Then the lesson began on them being one of the many creations from God and how farmers grow them. Here was our sweet little afternoon…..
Gavin standing in front of the cute little fruit and veggie market. He was pointing to a “caaaaar” that was pulling in.
Wondering what in the world we are doing? This kid doesn’t get out much.
Now he is finally following Bradley.
Bradley waiting for all of us to get Gavin going! We didn’t want to pick him up, we wanted him to do everything on his own today.
Bradley’s first pick!
Gavin’s first pick, he called them “balls” for some reason. Still working on that big word, “strawberry”!
We have known Gavin can put away some strawberries but we were not expecting what happened. We assumed he would catch on with picking them and putting them in a basket. Instead, he just picked and ATE! About 10 or more, so we paid the lady extra because we felt so bad. She was so sweet though and said she didn’t mind and enjoys seeing the little ones having so much fun.
Looking Macho with his little fruit basket! Real men pick berries! ;)
They are really sweet strawberries but I think he got a tart one! Look at that face.
Making sure it is perfect.
He dropped it. He would take a few bites then just drop them on the ground.
Some of them got run over by Gavin after he dropped them. He is our little wrecking ball!
Once we got home we washed them all with Bradley helping. It is so funny and sweet seeing him take an interest in the kitchen. It has progressed naturally with him wanting to help Brad and I in the kitchen. We made some chocolate covered strawberries and took some to our elderly neighbors. We are going to make brownies for them and I bought some vanilla ice cream too. I will probably eat lots in salad with a vinaigrette and then I may freeze some. Other than that these strawberries have no big recipe to be a part of, just enjoyed!
Beautiful !!
