Cavity Club due to Sugarbugs!

photod1 photod3

This morning Bradley had a check up so the three munchkins got loaded
in the car and off we went.
Bradley let them take x-rays for the first time since the past times
he was younger and not into it. He listened so well and did great.
With the x-rays came cavities or "sugarbugs" as the dentist referred to them to keep Bradley's attention! The dentist said some children who
won't take x-rays until they are 6 show up with like tons of bad
cavities so Bradley's were caught very early and are very tiny. There
are 5 of them though! She said his teeth are designed very tight
together so all of them are in between his teeth not on top. Even with
good hygiene practices it is easy to get. I will admit though I don't
regularly floss his teeth. We will never know I guess if it would have
made a difference. So, take it from me, floss the kiddos teeth good!
We will be starting today and it is also back to a mommy approved diet.
Not a daddy approved one. Candy and sweets are only for special
occasions! Not to be made a habit of.
So, after x-rays, a strawberry flavored cleaning, 3 coins for the toy
machine not 1 since he did exceptionally well, my disappointment in
him not being in the "no cavity club" and setting up 4 future
appointments, that was our almost 2 hour visit!
We will be seeing a lot of that place this summer. For 5 cavities to
be filled we have to go 3 trips. They have a rule for children this
age that they can only be numb on one side top or bottom at once. Oh
and did I mention that red heads don't do well with local anesthesia or
laughing gas. They become combative little monsters! It should get
interesting.
Also, let me not forget that he picked a Princess toothbrush when I
wasn't looking. Thank you, Thank You kind dental hygienist!
The dentist did not look at me like I was a bad mom and was very sweet
and not concerned but I still feel like a failure a tiny bit for
letting my 4 year old get 5 cavities. I knew they would most likely or
definitely get them, especially since Brad and I both have had plenty
growing up, but this was just too soon for me!

See, I try to put a stop to the Daddy diet in my house too and I pull the "i dont want him to get a bunch of cavities" card...and alan's comeback is "they're his baby teeth! He'll get new ones!" I'm fighting a losing battle here, and now I see where i'll be in a few years!

My poor buddy! Looks like he did great though. You are reminding me that I have to take Sophia in to the dentist again. Yikes!
